Tree of the Month.

There are over 50,000 mature trees in Hackney. They soften the city landscape, help give streets their character and moderate the local climate.

Trees reduce pollution and provide shade. They connect us to our past and future. One way to enhance the beauty of Hackney's environment and leave your mark for the future is to plant a tree.

Trees are high rise homes for birds, insects, mammals and other plants, and help to maintain and enhance Hackney's biodiversity.

Trees chance during the year, providing interest and beauty with their changing colours and shapes. To celebrate Hackney's trees throughout the year, trees have been chosen to mark the changing seasons, month by month. If there are trees which you appreciate, let us know, or send a photograph to include in these pages.
