Pick-up points wanted for Growing Communities’ organic veg box scheme

Who we are

Growing Communities is a community-led organic fruit and veg box scheme in Hackney.  The scheme provides Hackney residents with a delicious weekly selection of seasonal organic produce, starting from £6 per week.  The box scheme is collection only to cut down on pollution and food miles.  We have several pick-up points and we use either our electric milkfloat or a bike trailer to transport the bags over to the pick-ups.

What we need

Space - We require some space (indoors or outdoors) to place two locked boxes or a mini shed for storing the veg each week.  The boxes are approximately 1.2 m x 0.7 m.  Access - The scheme relies on the pick-up points being open/accessible to the public on a Wednesday or Thursday evening as well as at least one day.  Staffing - The pick up point could be staffed by Growing Communities or operate as a self-service to our members.

Can you be a pick-up point?

We are currently looking for new pick-up points in the Hackney Central and Dalston areas.  You might be a community centre, a church or a café.  If you want to promote sustainable food and/or get more people into your establishment this may be a good partnership for you.
